In some point in our lives, we all want to create content in some form or another. Whether it be through art, literature, or video. For the most part, people are okay with people with doing these kinds of things. But for certain cases, like reaction videos, some people are not as positive.
Now before we go any further, I will point out that I like watching reaction videos and I support people that add more to the original video. What I don't like is all the people who are against it, when they themselves are hypocrites.
I've seen a channel that is very vocal on how reactors steal content or the fact that they play the whole video and say they don't add anything new. But the problem is that person owns a separate channel where uploads unedited clips to full episodes on their channel without doing anything to them and still believes they are in the right. I won't give a name, but their channel is MLP related, and I'm pretty sure most MLP reactors know who exactly I'm talking about.
My other issue is with those that do dramatic readings or comic dubs, and say the exact same thing. Essentially, what they are doing is the exact same thing as reaction channels: they take someone else's work, read it, and pass it off as their own original work. One can argue that it isn't creative, all they are doing is proving they are literate. Doesn't matter how well of a voice actor you are, if you do it, you're less likely to get issues with the creator because they're on a different site and wouldn't be looking for it.
Is what I'm saying true? Yes.
Do you agree with my arguements? Maybe.
Does this mean you should hate this type of content? Absolutely...not.
Look, dramatic readings and comic dubs are not my main source of entertainment. I'll listen to a comic dub from time-to-time, and preferred dramatic readings are when multiple people are involved and they break away from the story to comment, laugh, or tell jokes. Not just listen to the whole thing straight through from start to finish.
What I want to say is that, we all have are preferred types of entertainment and they will change over time. That doesn't give anyone the right to say that you shouldn't make this kind of content because I don't like it. It's the same as telling an artist to only draw ponies. Or telling a writer to only write stories about a certain character or series and focus on nothing else.
We all have a voice and we should be able to share our voice when it feels needed. But when one person makes a decision to basically give out copyright strikes to every reactor after being okay with them a year prior, this is when something needs to be done.
I don't care if no one reads this or if you want to attack me for supporting reaction videos. If you have a problem, take it somewhere else because I'm not the one you should be complaining to. If a reactor does one of your videos and you don't like it, ask them to take it down. If you tell the reactor and not just make an announcement video telling them to stop, then most likely they will take it down.
Yes, I know there are reactors that are just in it for the fame and money. But that is potentially the same thing that can be with everyone, with artist, musicians, writers, animators, etc. Everyone mostly attacks reactors because they're the easiest targets. It much harder to tell if a musician or animator is guilty of this and, most of the time, even if they do know, they still won't care.
In the end, all I can say is that, don't go attacking someone. Because whether you like it or not, they will attack back, and in some cases, they won't be alone.
